Our EBC Financial Group (UK) Ltd.’s CEO David Barrett recently sat down with World Finance to reveal insights into the company’s impressive growth, global expansion strategies, and its take on the evolving brokerage landscape.
Despite launching amid the pandemic in 2020, we’ve achieved remarkable growth, especially in the Asia Pacific region. David attributes this success to a young, tech-savvy demographic with rising disposable income: “There’s a young audience, they’re gathering online more, they have better access to tech, the ability to connect is much, much better than it always used to be.”
However, navigating an ever-changing regulatory environment is a key challenge. Barrett acknowledges the tightening grip of regulations and rising costs in onshore markets, particularly the European Economic Area (EEA). This, coupled with a strategic focus on broader reach, has led us to expand into offshore markets, most recently acquiring a full licence from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA).
Building a globally recognised brand is another pillar of EBC’s strategy. Our offices demonstrate a commitment to global reach, further amplified by our strategic partnership with FC Barcelona.
Looking ahead, David emphasises the importance of controlled growth, achieved through investments in infrastructure, attracting high-quality personnel, and ensuring robust regulatory compliance. He also predicts further industry consolidation, with smaller players struggling under rising costs and potentially migrating offshore, which could offer clients access to more diverse investment options.
Security remains a top priority, as well. Having encountered clone attacks, we actively monitor our digital presence with the help of a “globally well-renowned cybersecurity firm.” With over 300 employees across various time zones, we foster a multicultural environment. Our focus on compliance, sustainable growth, strategic partnerships, and a robust global team positions us to navigate the dynamic world of finance with confidence.
